The Bowen Technique

The Bowen Technique is a safe effective therapy for a wide range of conditions, and has continuously grown in popularity as a complimentary health Therapy over the last 20 years. Developed by Tom Bowen in Australia in the 1950s this treatment works by using a unique rolling technique to work on aiding body realignment. The "moves" stimulate energy and empower the body to heal itself to the best of its ability.

Bowen works on a system of the body that is usually neglected by other therapeutic disciplines - ‘The Fascia tissue’. Fascia is the connective tissue in our bodies that surrounds the bones, organs, muscles, ligaments and other soft tissues. By me treating the fascia tissue with a very precise series of movements, signals will be sent throughout the entire body including the internal organs. These signals in turn remind our body of how to bring itself back into alignment, and therefore improving our physical , emotional and mental wellbeing. In other words Bowen helps our bodies to achieve their best possible function.

Bowen work is truly complementary in that it is safe for all ages and it is even safe to use post surgery, supporting all the system’s of the body enabling a healthy and speedy recovery. For some, the results are often noticed within hours of a single treatment (chronic conditions may require more than the usual 2 to 4 treatments, spaced a week apart, before obvious improvements are noticed).

I am one of the only Bowen practitioners in Sussex, so if you are interested in Bowen and its benefits you have come to the right place! I introduced this technique to my clinic 10 years ago as I found, from my own experience, that this was the most effective treatment for a chronic pain and injury that I previously had, and so I wanted to share this amazing technique with my clients.

"I am an MMA fighter and have been training and sparing for 3 years now. I recently had a shoulder injury and my coach and physio said I would be out of action for at least 2 months. A friend recommended Claire to me. Luckily for me I saw her 2 days after the injury. I felt a relief from the pain within a week and returned to training after 3 weeks!. I have had many more injuries since but now have Bowen twice a month to help stay ahead of the game and help keeps my body functioning as well as it can”.
